Aug. 25--Many people have the bacteria that causes staph infections on their skin or in their nose, yet they don't get sick.

But a type of staph that's immune to a powerful antibiotic has become more common and often turns up outside hospitals. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections, commonly called MRSA infections, have been seen spreading among children who play contact sports.
