Moths and disease killing London's horse chestnuts.

A MAJOR tree census must be carried out if London's horse chestnuts are to survive an ecological crisis, experts warned today.
Forestry Commission research has shown that more than 10 per cent of the trees may already be affected by a potentially fatal disease and parasites.
Three winters of drought have already starved them of water - horse chestnuts are among the most vulnerable trees in prolonged dry spells - but now they are being attacked by the leaf miner moth, a disease known as bleeding canker and leaf blotch fungus.
