Abstract
This research was performed to investigate the effects of press temperature, press time, and resin content on the emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and formaldehyde during the pressing of radiata pine medium density fiberboard (MDF). To statistically quantify the amount of total VOCs (TVOCs) and formaldehyde according to pressing conditions, this experiment was designed using a central composite design. Detected VOCs were pentanal, hexanal, [alpha]-...

INFLUENCE OF LUMBER DIMENSION ON VOC EMISSIONS FROM KILN-DRYING LOBLOLLY PINE LUMBER.
Forest Products Journal
; RUBIN SHMULSKY ABSTRACT Southern yellow pine (SYP) wood contains many nonstructural components, such as monoterpenes. These volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are given off by living pine trees and during drying of wood products such as lumber, veneer, strands, particles, and fibers. This research

Variation of terpenes in sapwood and heartwood of loblolly pine: impact on VOC emissions from drying lumber samples.(volatile organic compound)
Forest Products Journal
; Abstract A single loblolly pine tree approximately 45 years in age was harvested for use in this study. Increment core samples from throughout the length of the tree bole were analyzed for terpenes. Lumber samples from different locations within the tree were tested for volatile organic compound
