JCB eyeing up Jaguar; BUSINESS: Tycoon courts Ford marque.(News)

JAGUAR has another potential suitor in the frame - in the shape of JCB tycoon Sir Anthony Bamford.

The JCB chairman says he is interested in buying Jaguar if parent Ford can "separate out" the loss-making firm.

A JCB spokeswoman confirmed a report which said the JCB boss would only want to buy if Ford was prepared to split the loss-making carmaker from Land Rover. But Ford's Premier Automotive Group has declined to comment on Sir Anthony's statement.
