Charles Moore, 59, recently found out that honesty pays when he turned in $21,000 in bonds he discovered in the trash, and in return, was given over $4,000 in rewards and a possible job offer.
Having become homeless after he lost his roofing job in Toledo, OH, Moore has been living on the streets of Detroit because he couldn't find work. As he searched through trash for returnable bottles, he came across 31 U.S. savings bonds and decided to turn them in to a homeless shelter, which tracked down the owner.
