Belgian farm minister Sabine Laruelle has written to the country's provincial governors asking them to ascertain quickly how much damage was caused by the drought in July. This information will enable the minister to start the process required to release disaster funds, Vilt reports.

Farmers who have suffered losses due to the heat and drought will be able to apply for a visit from the commission for the investigation of crop damage.
