De-icing standards issued for commuter and large private aircraft. (Brief Article)

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued new de-icing regulations that cover commuter airlines and large private planes. The new rules were published in the December 30, 1993, Federal Register. (58 Fed. Reg. 69620.)

Similar regulations affecting commercial airlines were issued last year after an airplane with snow and ice on its wings crashed during takeoff at New York's La Guardia Airport, killing 27 people.
