David Dudley's attempt to become the first angler to win the FLW Tour Championship for a second time came up short Saturday.

The 2003 FLW champion, who has homes in Lynchburg and Manteo, N.C., finished eighth in Saturday's final round of 12 on Logan Martin Lake in Birmingham, Ala.. Dudley, who had won more than $1.7 million in previous FLW competitions, weighed in five bass that totaled 9 pounds, 7 ounces. He won $22,000 for the effort.
