The World Council of Churches and international civil society.

An international civil society is necessary to control the destructive tendencies of transnational businesses and the World Council of Churches (WCC) is well placed to be the forum for that society. The WCC has been working toward Christian union among churches internationally and so, if this were achieved, could also serve as an international base for political and economic activities. Civil society and the WCC have compatible interests in the relationships between states, churches or businesses and so could establish mutually supportive international laws.
