An improved wrist splint that can be shaped to support a patient's hand, wrist and forearm in comfort is outlined by Seaberg in US Patent 6 981 956.
The splint (12) features a flat, malleable metal core (30) covered with a layer (42) of open-cell synthetic polymeric foam padding on each side and protected by an outer cover of absorbent fabric. The fabric is moisture and vapour permeable, thereby maintaining patient comfort with the splint in contact with the skin.
