Sumitomo Chemical to hike polyethylene, polypropylene prices.

Aug. 8--TOKYO -- Sumitomo Chemical Co. said Tuesday it will raise polyethylene and polypropylene prices, starting with shipments Sept. 11, on rising crude oil prices.
In the eighth price hike since spring 2004, Sumitomo Chemical will raise prices of polyethylene by 15 to 20 yen per kilogram and of polypropylene by 15 yen.
It said high crude oil prices have pushed up prices of naphtha used to make the resins and other petrochemical products as well.
