Army awards Motorola Joint STARS ground station pact. (Motorola Inc.) (EC Monitor)

The US Army's Communications-Electronics Command (Ft. Monmouth, NJ) has awarded a $24.4 million initial increment of a Joint STARS low-rate initial production contract of approximately $55 million. The contract covers production of 12 Block 1 Medium Ground Station Modules (GSMs).

The GSM receives and integrates data and imagery from the E-8 Joint STARS aircraft for viewing and dissemination. It also can receive data from other sources, including unmanned aerial vehicles and other FLIR, SIGINT and video gatherers. The GSM's role within Army operations could extend beyond Joint ...
