Before he realized that he was ill, jazz great Miles Davis put $170,000 down on a luxurious $1.7 million apartment in New York.

When he found out he was dying, however, he figured the last thing he needed to worry about was a new apartment, so he pulled out of the deal, the New York Daily News reports.
