Heavy equipment industry growing fast to follow trend of mining sector.(INDUSTRY)

Heavy equipment industry was one of hardest hit by the 1997/1998 crisis. N 196, sales of heavy equipment totaled 4,80 units, but in 1998 sales plunged to less than 1,000 units.

The industry began to grow in 2004 with the expansion of the infrastructure and mining sectors notably coal mining industry.

Demand for heavy equipment is estimated to grow 35% in 2006 from 7,619 units in 2005. The growth rate is higher than in 2005 when demand grew 28% from 5,644 units in the previous year.
