Aug. 1--State officials found a worrisome agricultural pest in a flowering crab apple tree in Franklin County. A male apple maggot fly was found last week in a trap. The residents who owned the tree on the 5000 block of West Dradie Street said they didn't know the pest found in their ornamental tree could cause serious problems for farmers, said Tom Wilson, coordinator of the Franklin County Horticultural Pest and Disease Control Board.
