APOLLO readers will recognise this portrait of the traitor Sir Thomas Wyatt the Younger (Fig. 1). Published in the magazine in March by Sir Roy Strong, it was hailed as a rediscovered late portrait by Hans Holbein the Younger, previously known only from copies. The panel had turned up at Christie's in 1974, over-painted and inscribed 'Henry 6', and catalogued simply as English School.
