Jul. 14--DAYTON, Tenn. -- The impact of the Scopes trial is still felt here 81 years after John T. Scopes was found guilty of breaking Tennessee law by teaching evolution in a Rhea County classroom, local festival officials said. "We have, in essence, done what they were trying to do in 1925," said Tony McCuiston, director and actor in the Scopes Trial play. The 19th19th annual Scopes Trial Play and Festival launches today in Dayton. Actors will take the stage in the historic Rhea County Courthouse to re-enact some of the events that ...
