UK online DVD rentailer and digital downloads service provider LoveFilm is to merge with Video Island, owner of online DVD rentailer ScreenSelect. Both partners hold equal share in the deal which will give the combined group more than 400,000 subscribers and around 17 per cent of all DVD rental transactions in the UK, as well as market share in its operations in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
