Rawski's translation of Petrarch's largest moral work, a collection of allegorical dialogues on tempering emotional disturbances brought upon us by good or bad luck, is a landmark in Petrarch studies. It is the first modern English translation, the first English one since Thomas Twyne's in 1579, more than four hundred years ago. As there is still no Latin critical edition, Rawski has effectively supplied readers with the most scholarly version of De Remediis available.
