The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), which has governed Mexico for most of the 20th century, has named Luis Donaldo Colosio to head its ticket in the 1994 general election. Colosio, a former senator from Sonora, is a protege of current president Carlos Salinas de Gortari.
