Once again Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe was let off the hook at the African Union's weekend summit in Banjul, The Gambia. He seems to have evaded censure or even any commitment to assume real responsibility for the disaster in his country.
United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan met Mugabe at the summit to discuss how he could help find a way out of Zimbabwe's rapidly worsening crisis, after President Mbeki and Tony Blair had recently passed the buck to him.
But Annan seems to have been rebuffed by Mugabe in Banjul, and to have accepted this. ...
