Pope Benedict XVI named Italian Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe to be the new archbishop of Naples and named Indian Cardinal Ivan Dias of Mumbai to succeed Sepe as prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. The appointments were announced May 20 at the Vatican.
Dias, 70, is a former Vatican diplomat who has been archbishop of his hometown since 2001.
