W.Va. Sens. split on flag amendment: Rockefeller votes yes, Byrd says no.

Jun. 29--Although West Virginia's two senators split their votes on the proposed constitutional amendment which would prohibit desecration of the American Flag, both senators agree that the flag should be protected.
Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., voted in favor of the proposed 28th amendment, which failed by one vote Tuesday.
Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., voted against the amendment.
It's not because he doesn't support the flag, though, Byrd said.
