Brandy(*) is the most popular distilled spirit sold in Mexico. It even tops rum and tequila as the spirit of choice. More than 1 0 million cases of brandy and cognac, valued at about $580 million, were sold in Mexico in 1991. U.S. brandy exporters, who until now had little share of the Mexican market, may see their sales rise in coming years as consumers south of the border become more familiar with the U.S. product.
