NEW YORK -- Designer Alexander Julian has entered the men's underwear business.

Alexander Julian, Inc., Ridgefield, Conn., signed a licensing agreement with Lifeguard Apparel, Inc., an underwear, sportswear and activewear manufacturer, beginning with holiday '94 delivery.

The lines will carry the designer's three labels--Alexander Julian, Colours by Alexander Julian and Coloursport Alexander Julian. According to Marty Hackel, president of the Julian firm, the license will be greatly expanded for spring '95 delivery. He estimated first-year sales at under $10 million.
