Jun. 8--State officials will appoint a special prosecutor to take over the investigation of two former Union County prosecutors who face allegations they committed a felony in a 1996 death penalty case, the Observer has learned.

That special prosecutor will determine whether to bring charges against former Union District Attorney Ken Honeycutt and former Assistant DA Scott Brewer in a case that put a man on death row for seven years...
