A Mohawk Indian chief who figured in a key Revolutionary War battle now stands guard near the entrance to Mexico Point Park.

A life-size woodcarving of Joseph Brant was unveiled Sunday at the annual Arts in the Park show. Brant is the second in a series known as Park People, said Sandra Scott, the festival coordinator.

"We want to tell the history of Mexico Point Park through these hand-carved and hand-painted full-sized statues," Scott told a small crowd gathered at the park on Lake Ontario.
