ILLNESS in the family is always a worry. Sudden, unexplained illness was hitting the citizens of Edinburgh. Was there a mass murderer at large?

Elizabeth Sharwood-Smith and her oldest son Andrew had been rushed to hospital a couple of days before with terrible stomach cramps and sickness.

Back in their Edinburgh home, they were fine for two days then the symptoms returned. Something wasn't right.

Elizabeth's husband Geoffrey was worried but he knew more than most. Geoffrey was a consultant anaesthetist and knew all about medical symptoms.
