Jun. 4--IRAAN -- Cartoonist V.T. Hamlin is believed to have gained the inspiration for his prehistoric comic strip "Alley Oop" while working in the oil fields around Iraan. Next weekend, the Pecos County city will take its annual opportunity to celebrate that inspiration. The 41st Alley Oop Day Celebration kicks off Friday night with a chuck wagon meal.
