How else could one explain Jager running a 8:57.7 in the 3,200 meters at the Nalley Invitational after sleeping for just 2 1/2 hours on the heels of a night of revelry at the Jacobs prom held on the Odyssey cruise ship in Chicago, and then at Game Works in Schaumburg. He got home at 3:30 a.m. and was up by 6 a.m. in order to catch the 7 a.m. bus to the meet.
