CN CEO Paul Tellier contends that rescuing Canada's railways from "a dangerous, slippery slope" will require more CN/CP consolidation, plus new parternships with truckers.

When Paul Tellier, Canada's most powerful bureaucrat, was name the new head of government-owned Canadian National Railways in October 1992, the howls of indignation from many politicians and railway insiders were swift and loud. "Patronage appointee" and "political payoff" were two of the printable comments made at- the time.
