If the diversity plan approved Wednesday by the University of Oregon Faculty Senate is seen as a means of placating noisy pressure groups, or of furthering an agenda of political correctness, it has already failed. It must be understood that the UO isn't granting anyone special favors by pursuing the goal of greater diversity among its faculty, staff and students.
