Does it pay to keep bantams for eggs? (bantam chickens)

Bantam hens produce smaller eggs than Rhode Island Reds or Leghorns but they are generally prolific egg layers. Larger bantam breeds produce slightly larger eggs.

Bantams have not been bred for egg production to the extent of the commercial Leghoms and Rhode Island Reds, and naturally their eggs are smaller.
