Wisconsin's neighbors are collecting millions of dollars by going after back taxes from people who bought cigarettes over the Internet, but Gov. Jim Doyle is standing behind his decision not to pursue those funds here.

Michigan has collected $6.2 million and Illinois has taken in $2.9 million since last year, according to tax officials in those states. But Wisconsin has not pursued at least $3 million in back taxes that smokers owe the state.
