Georgia-Pacific plans to expand into county's new enterprise zone.

May 25--Georgia-Pacific Corp. will be the first business to test Chatham County's new enterprise zone incentives.

The company is expanding its Savannah gypsum plant at 151 Wahlstrom Road, which is in the newly created zone off President Street Extension.

The plant employs 90 people. The expansion, which should be complete in March, is expected to add at least 30 positions, company officials said.

Georgia-Pacific will get a dedicated staff person from the county to expedite the permitting process for the project. The county also will ...
