WOMEN who give up work to support their husband can expect bigger divorce settlements under a landmark ruling by the Law Lords yesterday.

They decreed that a wife deserves an 'equal share' of the family's wealth, irrespective of the length of the marriage or how much money she contributed.

The ruling was handed down after the country's most senior judges considered the cases of two women divorced from wealthy men.

In the case of 46-year-old Julia McFarlane, they ruled that she was entitled to a third of her husband's o750,000 salary for life ...
