A part of San Diego history would have faded away this year if a local museum hadn't stepped in to keep a declining business alive.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum recently rescued the low-speed wind tunnel from demise at the hands of former owner Allied Aerospace of Newport News, Va.

The low-speed wind tunnel had been serving the local and national aviation industry for more than a half-century at its facility on Pacific Highway near Lindbergh Field.
