Oren Benton, whose holdings included everything from part ownership of the Colorado Rockies to 75 percent of the world's uranium market, died Friday after a long battle with colon cancer.

Benton died "comfortably and peacefully" in an assisted care center in Arapahoe County, said his son-in-law Patrick Miller.

He was 72.
