A study of the updated Historical Index of Business Economics (BE) reveals the transitions in the publication in its 29 years of existence. Changes in BE's editorial policies, focus and design reflect changes in the National Assn of Business Economists and its editors' attitudes. BE started out as a newsletter in 1965 and evolved into a refereed academic type journal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It became a magazine-type journal containing solicited articles in 1985, written mostly by business economists. The most written about topic was 'Growth, Planning, Forecasting and Fluctuations.'
