A rare painting discovered in an Onondaga County home was sold at auction recently for $164,750 in a fast-paced bidding war between interested buyers.

Tim Conroy, of TW Conroy & Associates, an auction company based in Baldwinsville, knew immediately the autumn landscape oil painting on canvas was precious and predicted it would fetch about $200,000, said Melissa Mullen, office manager for the company.

He had sold work by the same artist before, Mullen said.
