Trident Seafoods, Seattle, Washington, USA, has been on a buying spree lately. First it agreed to buy a surimi plant from agribusiness giant ConAgra. Now it's signed a letter of intent to acquire the seafood processing operations of Ocean Beauty, also of Seattle.

The two companies will form ventures to bolster their smoked fish and Ocean Beauty's seafood distribution businesses. Ocean Beauty and Trident have been on the forefront of developing value-added seafood products from Alaska These products include retail-ready salmon, halibut and groundfish products.
