May 16--Tens of thousands of aficionados are expected to descend on Oxnard this weekend. The gardeners, gourmets and other visitors -- mostly from Ventura and Los Angeles counties -- will likely provide a boost to local business and perhaps Oxnard's image.

The California Strawberry Festival attracted 60,000 people last year, and attendance is rising, according to Janet Sederquist, executive board member.
