Athough Catrin Otto first studied painting, she turned away from that medium over ten years ago. She now works primarily with photographs, which she arranges into room-sized installations. In contrast to her Berlin colleague Thomas Demand, Otto not only creates spatial installations that she then photographs, but also reconstructs these scenarios later as site-specific installations in combination with the photographs.
