May 5--Five people appeared in court Thursday, charged with planning and attempting the killing of a man during a March 21 drug deal with a buyer who turned out to be a confidential informant sent by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

The unidentified informant went into 3226 E. Fourth Ave. in Spokane to purchase $4,000 worth of drugs. But the deal quickly turned when one of the suspects allegedly pointed a gun at the informant a who was wearing an electronic listening device a and told him he was about to die, according to court records.
