Image processing manufacturer Linotype-Hell AG has forged a marketing alliance with the Eastman Kodak Co. The alliance will feature complementary discounts for buyers of Kodak film and Lintotype hardware. Linotype entered into the alliance to counter the large discounts offered by its competitors Agfa and Scitex. It was reported, however, that the biggest challenge being faced by image processing equipment makers is not competition, but the development of desktop and digital imaging equipment that do not utilize film and film-processing equipment.
