May 01--My, how things have changed for the Pueblo City-County Health Department. The department turned 50 years old in April. It has grown from a small office comprised of a doctor and a "sanitarian" in the basement of City Hall to an independent agency with 97 workers and a role in preparing for disasters and terrorist attacks. The health department's inspectors, lab technicians and medical personnel are an integral part of Pueblo life, even if you don't see them at work.
