Ohio Ballet loses founding father: Fierce choreographer, 80, dies of renal disease.

May 01--Heinz Poll, who planted the seeds of a professional ballet company in Akron and tended his Ohio Ballet for 31 years, died early Sunday morning. The cause of death was end-stage renal disease, said his friend Fran Schaul. Poll turned 80 on March 18 during a long stay at the Cleveland Clinic. He had been moved to his home in Cleveland Heights on Thursday for hospice care. "He created a real gem in Akron, Ohio.
