Plan calls for a 'mini civic center' to be constructed
Construction is set to begin soon on the last parcel of undeveloped land in the 104-acre redevelopment zone in Watts.
The area -- bounded by Century Boulevard on the north, Success Avenue on the west, 104th Street on the south and Wilmington Avenue on the east -- was declared a redevelopment zone, known as the Watts Redevelopment Project Area, in 1967 as a response to the Watts riots of 1965.
