Apr. 29--A century ago, a series of meetings were held in a former stable in Los Angeles, a significant milestone for a spiritual movement that would spread across the nation and throughout the globe.

One week after the April 18, 1906, earthquake that devastated San Francisco and also shook Los Angeles, revival meetings began at 312 Azusa St., led by William Seymour, an African-American preacher who formerly lived in St. Louis and Indianapolis.
