Venom from one of Australia's deadliest snakes, the costal taipan, may provide the next generation of blood dotting medications, according to a March 6, 2006, news release from Research Australia, Sydney, Australia. Venom from the costal taipan contains a more stable and faster-acting form of a blood-clotting protein called factor X (ie, factor 10) than that which is produced by mammals.
